Iowa State University Extension and Outreach field agronomist Clarabell Probasco says they have enjoyed large amounts of rainfall to help with drought in her area of Southeast Iowa. Discusses the wait for planting to begin in 2024. She also tells us that alfalfa weevils are causing a lot of havoc in the area.

Angie Rieck-Hinz: "You Should Always Be Scouting"

North Central Iowa Agronomist Angie Rieck-Hinz from Iowa State University Extension tells us about some of last night's rainfall totals in the area and says it's helping result in reduced drought suffering. She also tells us how the early crops are emerging. She also details pest activity she's noticing.

Brian Hoops from Midwest Market Solutions is handling market analysis duties today with grains mostly in the green. ISU Extension's Steve Freeman talks with David about the best practices for staying safe on Iowa roadways with farm equipment and haulers.

Co-owners Rick and Lilia Romero tell us about their smash burgers and how they named their four-month-old restaurant! IBIC Executive Director Mike Anderson talks about the significance of May beef Month and promoting the product to consumers heading into summer grilling months. Iowa Cattlemen CEO Bryan Whaley echos Mike's thoughts and talks about the hard work of beef producers across the state. Kylie Petersen from the Iowa Beef Industry Council talks about the impact for restaurants who win and are finalists in the contest. It's also Clean Water Wednesday! IBIC Director of Marketing and Communications Kylie Peterson talks about the trend of smash burgers winning Best Burger, this year's contest results, and the 7,500 votes they got from consumers.
