Omaha Substitute Teacher Faces Sex Abuse Charge

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a woman, who is an Omaha high school substitute teacher, is accused of sexually abusing a teen, who attends a school at which the suspect has substituted.

The Sheriff's Office says Deputies were called over the weekend to 189th and Blondo Streets on a report of a suspicious car on a dead-end street.

Investigators say after the vehicle fled when law enforcement showed up and crashed a short distance away, 45 -year-old Erin Ward was found in the back seat and she was booked on one count of felony sexual abuse by a school employee, a Class F2A Felony.

She was jailed at Douglas County Corrections.

Deputies say the driver, a teen male, fled from the vehicle on foot, but was later located and taken into protective custody.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says they are working in close collaboration with the Douglas County Attorney's Office and the Omaha Public School District, who confirmed Erin Ward’s employment.
