(Undated) -- Iowa's drought picture is improving. This week's U-S Drought Monitor still shows 90% of Iowa in drought or near-drought, but the severity has eased somewhat. A large part of northeast Iowa remains in extreme drought, but there's been some improvement. Northwest Iowa, and select counties in far eastern and southeast Iowa have improved. Rain this week is not included in the report.

Seventy percent of the state remains in moderate drought.

The National Weather Service is predicting breezy conditions today (Thursday) and again on Saturday as another system arrives.

Showers and thunderstorm chances return Saturday night into Sunday.
