(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Shane Teslik stabbed Devonna Walker in self-defense.

Teslik confessed to the stabbing during testimony in his voluntary manslaughter trial in Linn County Court Tuesday.

Teslik says he feared for his family's safety after Walker threatened his pre-teen daughter. He admitted calling Walker the n-word saying he hoped hearing it would just make her go away.

The defense is expected to put Teslik on the stand again today before resting their case.

He faces ten years in prison if convicted of fatally stabbing Walker.
