(Moline, IL) -- Moline police say a person broke into a Rock Island County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle and stole a rifle over the weekend.

Police were called Saturday, February 17 at around 7:00 a.m. for reports of a burglary.

They say the off-duty deputy's marked patrol vehicle was parked in their driveway when they discovered someone smashed into the rear cargo hatch and a case holding a Rock River Arms LAR-15 rifle and ammo was gone.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Moline Police Department, Rock Island County Sheriff's Office, or Crimestoppers.
