Ankeny Doctor Convicted Of Second-Degree Sexual Assault

(Polk County, IA) -- An Ankeny pediatric orthopedic surgeon has been convicted of second-degree sexual assault. A Polk County jury found 73-year-old Dr. Lynn Lindaman guilty of abusing an 8-year old child in his home June 27, 2023. The jury deliberated for one hour before announcing the verdict. Lindaman faces a 25-year prison sentence, with a mandatory minimum of 17.5 years.

Lindaman faces an enhanced penalty because of a previous conviction from 1976 in Johnson County. He's scheduled to stand trial April 1st on the enhanced charge. If convicted, he could face 50-years in prison. There is a mandatory 42.5 years.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Attorneys Meggan Guns and Kevin Bell, with assistance from Kayla McKee. Special Agent Laura Myers of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation.
