Des Moines Sees Rise in Number of Felons Charged with Possessing a Firearm

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines is seeing a rise in the number of felons being charged with possession of a firearm.

The Des Moines Police Department says the number of felons caught in possession of a gun rose 28% in 2023, from 103 to 132. DMPD says it will continue to use intelligence information and tactics to keep guns out of the hands of convicted felons.
