Douglas County Man Arrested In Shots Fired Case

Douglas County Sheriff's Deputies early Sunday went to a residence near 152nd and Pawnee Road to investigate an assault report involving shots fired.

Upon arrival, investigators say they spoke with an adult male victim, who said he had been invited to a residence in that area.

The victim said while at the residence, a fight began with a known male suspect.

The victim said as he left, the male suspect fired at least two rounds from a firearm at the victim’s vehicle while the victim was inside of it.

Deputies noted damage to the victim’s vehicle consistent with shotgun rounds.

No injuries reported;

The Sheriff's Office says through further investigation, the suspect was identified as 53-year old James Richart of Douglas County, who lives at the scene.

Eventually the Sheriff's SWAT Team executed a court authorized search warrant at that residence, and Richart was taken into custody without incident.

The Sheriff says Richart was booked into Douglas County Corrections for Attempted Felony Assault, Criminal Mischief, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Weapon Possession by a Prohibited Person, Theft by Receiving, Tampering with Evidence, and Child Abuse/Neglect.
