Des Moines Police Department Receives Over 1,300 Calls During Snow Storm

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Police Department responded to more than 1,300 calls during this week's snow storm.

DMPD says between 2pm on January 8th and 2pm January 9th, 1,334 phone calls were received by the Police Department Communications Center. That's 20% higher than a typical January 24 hour period. DMPD received 534 calls for service, 166 of which were traffic-related.

There were also 14 reports of hit-and-run crashes, as well as 5 crashes resulting in personal injuries.
