(Rock Island, IL) -- The City of Rock Island is considering changing requirements for establishments to attain a liquor license.

At Monday's city council meeting, the council discussed having the city send notice letters to residents with options to file objections rather than requiring new businesses to obtain signatures of approval from neighboring property owners.

The city council also looked at new license types for outdoor events.

The council will vote either at the end of January or in February.
