(Marion, IA) -- Two pets are dead after a house fire broke out in Marion.
The Marion Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at a home on the 2100 block of 8th Avenue at around 2:00 p.m. and discovered to see smoke and flames coming from the front door.
Fire crews entered the home and extinguished one fire before that had already extended to the attic.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire before it spread anywhere else.
Two pets died from smoke inhalation.
One person was able to escape the house and was taken to a hospital for examination.
