(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowans filing for unemployment in the new year can use a new website to verify their identity.

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is partnering with ID.me, which they say will speed up the verification process for those applying for benefits. The site is in use by 15 federal agencies and 30 states to verify the identities of its users.

IWD is encouraging current and future applicants create an account at ID.me. It will be the required process for identity verification beginning in April.

More information on the new identity verification plan is available by clicking here.
