(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The organization that supplies blood to local hospitals in 20 Iowa counties says that though school, and some work may stop over the holidays, the need for blood donations doesn't.

Michelle Stebral of ImpactLife tells Iowa's News Now that "during the holidays, donations tend to decline, but the need stays the same at our local hospitals. We really need those donations to keep up with the blood supply here locally and the patients that need it."

She says blood does have a shelf life, so the need to replenish the supply is ongoing.
