(Rock Island, IL) -- A new drug is affecting people living in the Quad Cities.

The Quad City Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) has busted 3 suspected drug dealers with the drug cocktail Xylazine, also known as "Tranq".

The drug has been found laced with fentanyl.

Two people in Rock Island County have died from the drug since November, with 16 other deaths since 2021.

Health experts say Xylazine is mainly used to sedate large animals like horses.

Xylazine is also popping up in cocaine, meth and heroin.
