(Davenport, IA) -- A Davenport alderman has won a court challenge of his removal from city council, but it may be too late.

A Scott County judge said city council's dismissal of Derek Cornette from his 7th Ward seat in September didn't follow due process. But, his resintatement is on hold while the city appeals the decision to the Iowa Supreme Court. That means Cornette may not return before his term ends December 31st. He lost his bid for re-election last month.

Cornette was voted off council amidst accusations of abuse of staff, and intoxication at meetings.
