Multi-Million Dollar Iowa State Fair Renovation Continues

(Des Moines, IA) -- Work continues on a major restoration of the Iowa State Fair barns. Crews have been working on the terracotta masonry that decorates the sheep barn. Crews will also remodel office areas. install a new underground storm sewer, update roofing, update and add new restrooms, and paint.

Renovations are also planned for the Cattle, Swine, and Horse barns as part of the 25-(M) million dollar project.

The barns are among the most historic buildings on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The Sheep barn opened in 1917, the Horse Barn in 1912, and the Cattle Barn opened in 1914. The Livestock Building opened in 1902. The Agriculture Building opened in 1904.
