Law Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation Continues

The investigation continues after a suspect is wounded in a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy-involved shooting in Omaha.

It happened early Saturday near 108th and West Maple Road when an off-duty deputy saw a disturbance.

Investigators say the suspect, identified Sunday as 27-year-old Daveyon Sherman, was shot in the chest and is in stable condition.

The Sheriff's Office says Sherman does have warrants for his arrest from incidents that predate the shooting incident.

Investigators say the involved Deputy will be interviewed by investigators today.

That Deputy will remain on administrative status until the conclusion of the investigation, which is standard operating procedure.

The Deputy has been with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for nearly 5 years and is currently assigned to the Uniform Services Bureau.
