Des Moines Police ID Motorcyclist Who Died After Crash

(Des Moines, IA) -- There's new information about a fatal motorcycle crash in Des Moines. Police are identifying the motorcyclist as 61-year-old Ronald Current of Des Moines. Police say he hit a stalled car near East 19th and University before 4 p.m. Wednesday. Current died at the hospital, his passenger, a woman, has minor injuries.

Police say according to witnesses the motorcycle was eastbound on E. University Avenue, and changed lanes and crashed into the rear of a disabled vehicle in the 1900 block of E. University Avenue. A man associated with the disabled vehicle was outside of the vehicle at the time of the crash and sustained minor injuries. Des Moines Fire Department medics transported this person to a local hospital for treatment.
