Omaha Councilmember-Designate Ready To Work

Now that the Omaha City Council has chosen him through a vote, Ron Hug will be sworn in later this month, taking the place of Vinnie Palermo in Council District Four.

Hug praises the Council and city staff for the work that was done while that South Omaha District was without direct representation..

"I know each one of them individually tackled issues that came up in that district in the absence of a sitting City Councilman," Hug told KFAB Radio News. "and I think they just did an outstanding job trying to make sure the constituents had coverage;"

Palermo has been in jail since the Spring on federal fraud charges, and was removed by the Council in July under the rules of the Omaha Home Rule Charter.

Hug will take the oath of office September 26th.
