(Burlington, IA) -- The Burlington area is getting state disaster relief to help recover from recent heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service says Burlington got 6.14 inches of rain on August 5th, over 4 inches more than the previous record for that day. Governor Kim Reynolds has since approved a disaster proclamation for Des Moines County. That means the county now has access to the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program, which provide relief for people affected by the storm. More information about how to apply is available here.
