Cedar Rapids Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Firing Gun At Party

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Police in Cedar Rapids say a man convicted of firing a gun at a birthday party at a hotel is sentenced to 25 years in prison.

30 year-old Quonie Shelton received the sentence after pleading guilty to four of thirteen charges regarding the shooting. Shelton admitted to firing a gun at a party at the Ramada Inn in 2021. Five people were injured during the shooting.

Shelton is already in prison in Illinois for a separate firearms conviction. He'll be extradited to Iowa after serving his sentence in Illinois.
