(Davenport, IA) -- The City of Davenport is working to secure a grant to make upgrades to the Credit Island Causeway. Credit Island is prone to flooding and the city says each time it's forced to shut down the island it has to make $100,000 to $150,000 in repairs. Because of that, the city is asking the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a Continuing Authorities Program grant that would help pay for water resource projects like Credit Island. The city is currently in the process of drafting the proposal and must have it submitted by August 21st. If the grant is approved the city says it wants to do about $1.5-million worth of work, which would take about two years.
