West Nile Virus Detected In Rock Island County Mosquitoes

(Rock Island Co., IL) -- West Nile Virus is detected in a batch of mosquitoes in Rock Island County. The county health department says this is the first time West Nile has been detected this year and there are still no cases of human infection. The health department says this does confirm the presence of West Nile and recommends people take precautions to avoid mosquitoes. The health department is asking people to report sick or dying birds that may have West Nile by calling its Division of Environmental Health at 309-558-2840 or by clicking here.
