Iowa's Annual Sales Tax Weekend Today, Tomorrow

(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa's annual sales tax holiday is today (August 4th) and tomorrow (August 5th). On both days, sales tax will not be charged for clothing and footwear that is priced at $100 or less. The annual holiday began decades ago as a way to encourage back-to-school shopping.

John Fuller of the Iowa Department of Revenue says it's estimated Iowans will save up to $5 million during the two days.

He notes some common back-to-school items are not on the sales tax-free list and recommends Iowans check their website for the complete list.
