Palermo Faces Council Removal Today

As expected, the Omaha City Council at its regular weekly meeting this afternoon will consider a resolution to remove Vinny Palermo from the council.

The Home Rule City Charter says if a councilmember misses three consecutive months of meetings without being excused by the council, that person forfeits the council position.

Vinny Palermo has absent since April 25th while in jail awaiting trial on fraud and conspiracy charges.

The process to fill the vacancy in the South Omaha council district may take up to two months.
