(Springfield, IL) -- Governor J.B. Pritzker is signing legislation authorizing a new state-based marketplace for Illinois.

Illinois residents currently access the Affordable Care Act Marketplace through the federal platform.

The full state-based marketplace is expected to go live in 2026.

The governor also signed rate review legislation designed to protect health insurance consumers from unfair rate hikes.

Insurance companies must provide specific details about how they set their rates and the Illinois Department of Insurance has the authority to approve, modify, or disapprove health premium rates that it determines to be unreasonable or insufficient.
