Omaha Police investigate an officer- involved shooting.
The Thursday night shooting involved two separate police responses involving the same person; first in northwest Omaha and ending in south central Omaha.
Officers were originally called to 73rd and Corby for an armed disturbance involving an adult male driving a gray Cadillac sedan.
A license plate number was obtained;
Investigators say officers went to the vehicle's registered address near 60th and Q Streets. where they saw the Cadillac arriving.
An officer pulled into the driveway behind the Cadillac to talk to the driver, but the officer immediately exchanged gunfire with the adult male, later identified as 42-year old James A. Wilson.
Police say Wilson was struck in the legs and taken into custody and to a hospital with injuries that are considered non-life threatening.
The officer suffered an arm injury, though it's not known what caused the injury.
Police say a handgun was located in the driveway of the Q St crime scene.
The OPD Officer Involved Investigations Team is looking into the case with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The involved officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
Investigators also say two officers driving to the scene with red lights and sirens on were hurt in a crash at 24th and Dodge.
They were taken to a hospital in serious condition, though there are reports the injuries are non-life threatening.
