Cedar Rapids Sees Less Shootings And Homicides Than This Time Last Year

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Gun crime in Cedar Rapids is decreasing.

According to Iowa's News Now, there are fewer overall shootings and homicides so far in 2023 than this time last year.

Data shows there have been 42 shots fired calls this year while there were 67 shots fired calls at this time a year ago.

There have been six homicides this year so far, two less than this time last year.

Despite overall gun crime being lower, there's been an increase in shootings involving teens.
