(Council Bluffs, IA) -- Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs is getting a $1 million grant from the Iowa Department of Education and Governor Kim Reynolds.

The college plans to use the money from the Career Academy Incentive Fund for more access to career programs in high-demand fields through a new regional center.

The center called Southwest Iowa Technical Career Hub will be in Hastings, Iowa, and serve students from six southwestern school districts in the state.

Students in the partnering school districts will have options to earn high school and college credit while gaining technical and traditional academic skills.
