New Information In Omaha Officer-Involved Shooting

Omaha Police earlier this morning in a news release reported three people are now in custody in an officer-involved shooting near 31st and Ames Ave.

Investigators say two officers fired their service firearms at 26-year-old Jahari Love, who they say was firing a long gun outside a strip mall Tuesday afternoon.

Police say through witness interviews, it was learned several people exchanged gunfire before officers fired their weapons.

Police say Love was exchanging gunfire with someone in a home.

He suffered an arm wound, though police aren't sure if that's from officers or shots fired from others.

Police happened to be in the area for a community meeting.

Omaha Police detectives have made three arrests related to this case:

Brandi Walker, 28, booked for attempted felony assault, terroristic threats, evidence tampering, and shooting at an occupied vehicle.

Jahari Love, 26, booked for attempted felony assault, and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Matthew Berg, 37, booked for attempted felony assault, and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

The incident was captured on video.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are assisting the Omaha Police Department "Officer Involved Investigations Team."

The two involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard operating procedure.
