Railroad Quiet Zone Approved In Clinton

(Clinton, IA) -- A railroad quiet zone will go into effect on May 31, after a nearly $2 million investment by the city of Clinton.

The city says the zone from 9th Avenue North to 6th Avenue South through Riverview Park comes after four years of work with the Canadian Pacific Railroad, the Iowa Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration.

Trains will no longer be able to sound their horn through the area, unless in the case of an emergency.
