Jeff Angelo: Should Iowa Ban Betting On College Sports?

Sports betting is very popular in Iowa. In 2021, the state recorded more than $2 billion in total bets, which was more than any other state in the Midwest. The popularity of sports betting in Iowa is likely due to a number of factors, including the state's large population, its proximity to major sporting events, and its relatively lax gambling laws.

Iowa is one of the few states that allows sports betting both online and in person. This has made it easy for people to place bets on their favorite teams, regardless of where they are located. The state also has a number of casinos and racetracks that offer sports betting, which has helped to drive up the popularity of the activity.

Now, The University of Iowa and Iowa State University are embroiled in an investigation of college sports betting by over 100 student-athletes and staff. I wonder if this means there will a bill in next year's Iowa Legislature to ban sports betting on college sports. LISTEN TO ME TALK ABOUT IT HERE:
