Infant Dead, Woman Hospitalized After Waterloo, Iowa Dog Attack

(Waterloo, IA) -- A nine-month-old baby is dead and a woman is hospitalized after being attacked by a dog in Waterloo.

Waterloo Police and Fire Rescue personnel were called to 1280 Scott Avenue in Waterloo at 7:22 a.m. for a report of an animal attack. They arrived and found two victims, a 49-year-old woman who was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo, then later flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Police describe her injuries as serious.

A second victim, a 9-month-old child was dead at the scene.

No names are being released, pending notification of family.
