(St. Paul, MN) -- More layoffs are coming to 3M. The Twin Cities-based company says it's laying off 6,000 workers worldwide, saving the company up to $900-million. 3M has plants in Ames and Knoxville and it's unclear how or if operations will be affected. Today's announcement comes alongside a sales report detailing a 9% drop in sales compared to this quarter last year and a 25% drop in net income. 3M laid off 2,500 manufacturing workers back in January.
