Mississippi River Expected To Hit Major Flood Stage Today

(Rock Island, IL) -- The Mississippi River at the Quad Cities is expected to reach a major flood stage today.

According to the National Weather Service, the Mississippi was nearly 17.82 feet and rising at Rock Island this morning - a major flood stage is 18 feet.

NWS is predicting the river to reach between 21 and 22 feet by this weekend.

The Mississippi's record high at Rock Island is 22 feet seven inches in 1993.
