(Lincoln, NE) - A missing teenager has been located after a high-speed chase on Interstate 80. The Nebraska State Patrol say in a press release that the driver, 27-year-old Edwin Portillo Barrientos, has been arrested for driving with a revoked license, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, theft by receiving stolen property in excess of $5,000, and multiple outstanding warrants.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, a trooper observed a Honda Civic speeding on I-80 near Bradshaw. The trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to yield and accelerated to over 100 miles per hour. The trooper followed in hot pursuit. The chase lasted nearly forty miles, ending after stop sticks were deployed near mile marker 383.

The missing 17-year-old passenger was taken to the Lancaster County Youth Services Center and booked on an outstanding warrant. A backseat passenger was cited for drug possession and released. The entire pursuit lasted for about 22 minutes. The Honda Civic was later determined to be stolen.
