Friday Cold Front May Calm Omaha/CB Area Wildfire Threat

A "Red Flag Warning" for wildfires is again in effect until eight this evening because of warm temps, gusty winds, and low relative humidity.

The warning is for all of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa and includes Omaha/Council Bluffs and Lincoln.

The National Weather Service says any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

But, a cold front is expected to eventually settle things down;

Omaha National Weather Service Science and Operations Officer Brian Barjenbruch tells KFAB Radio News, "even with a cold front, just a little closer to normal temperatures for this time of year, and the good news is it's gonna at least try and bring us some rain, even a few thunderstorms Friday evening."

Barjenbruch says there isn't really a season for such range fires around here. it just depends on the conditions;
