(Lincoln, NE) -- A Lincoln man is in custody after using a machete to carjack a construction van. According to the Lincoln Police Department, 28-year-old Gilberto Antoni Portillo Barrientos used the weapon to steal the van from two people stopped in a drive-through of a local restaurant at the 2100 block of W O Street Monday afternoon.
A Nebraska State Patrol AirWing helicopter was able to find the stolen van and report its location to officers, who then used stop sticks to disable the vehicle. Barrientos was later arrested without incident. No injuries were reported.
