(Iowa) -- A new national survey ranks Iowa as the 8th least federally dependent state in the country.

Financial website WalletHub conducted the 50-state survey looking at the return on taxes paid to the federal government, share of federal jobs statewide, and the amount of federal funding as a share of state revenue. The survey ranked New Jersey as the least federally dependent state in the nation, while Alaska was ranked as the state most dependent on the federal government.

The full survey is available on WalletHub's website.
