Nebraska Governor Talks Rail Safety

Governor Jim Pillen is asking the Nebraska Public Service Commission to intensify its efforts on rail safety, citing recent train derailments in Ohio that have been in the news.

Pillen says key rail inspector positions have remained unfilled, noting the reports the Public Service Commission has not employed a railroad track safety inspector in 20 years.

Pillen is the Governor of a state with extensive railroad operations including large yard operations in Omaha, Lincoln, North Platte, and Alliance.
