(Lincoln, NE) -- A bill to increase term limits to three four-year terms for State Senators is gaining interest in the Nebraska Legislature.

The bill, proposed by Republican State Senator Robert Dover, of Norfolk, would let voters decide whether or not to loosen term limits to an additional four years. Voters approved the two-term system in 2000. It went into effect with the 2006 elections.

This would give State Senators representing Omaha, Tony Vargas and Mike McDonnell, the chance to run for re-election in 2024.
