(Linn County, IA) -- The Linn County Sheriff's Office is releasing the names of two women found dead February 28th at a rural Springville home. The women are identified as 68-year-old Debra Mayfield and 43-year-old Karie Mayfield. Both lived at 2561 Jordan's Grove Road.
Deputes were called to the home around 9:30 a.m. February 28, 2023, after a call about a shooting. Deputies arrived and found two women who had been shot to death. Detectives from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Linn County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that there is no danger to the public. A witness was interviewed at the scene and the statements given to investigators appear to be consistent with the initial scene investigation.
The bodies were taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa for autopsies.
