(Grimes, IA) -- The City of Grimes is seeing big increases in residential investment and commercial growth in 2022.
The city saw over $162,454,105.84 dollars in new permit requests, including almost $110,000,000 in new commercial permit requests. That's a 337% increase over 2021. Grimes Development Services Director Alex Pfaltzgraff says the city is seeing an expansion in restaurants, retail, and other commercial services. The city is also seeing an increase in the number of people remodeling or upgrading their homes. Pfaltzgraff says that's a sign that people are choosing to stay in Grimes and make upgrades to their homes, rather than moving out the city. The city issued more than 1,200 hundred permits in 2022.
