Sprouts Concern Metro Omaha Health Departments

The Douglas County, Sarpy/Cass, and Three Rivers Public Health Departments are working with Nebraska Health and Human Services and the state ag department in investigating a cluster of gastrointestinal illnesses caused by the salmonella bacteria.

Douglas County Health says, as of late last week, 12 people reported eating alfalfa sprouts between December 4th through the 15th, either at local restaurants or in their homes from local grocery stores.

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends the public avoid eating alfalfa sprouts while the investigation is carried out.

If you have been sick in the stomach after eating alfalfa sprouts, please contact your local health department immediately.
