(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa State Patrol responded to multiple car crashes yesterday morning following the start of winter road conditions.
Troopers say they responded to 55 crashes and 49 motorist assist calls statewide.
Dozens of those crashes happened on Interstate I-80 east of Des Moines and on I-35 north of Des Moines.
According to Sergeant Alex Dinkla, this is not uncommon to see during the first days of the winter season.
