September is National Suicide Awareness Month

(Des Moines, IA) -- As September marks National Suicide Awareness Month, the Iowa Department of Public Health is reminding Iowans of the resources available 24/7.

At anytime, if you or someone you know if experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately. People can also chat on the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988lifeline.org/chat.

IDPH states several data points, such as suicide is one of the top 10 leading causes of death for all Iowans as of 2019. Suicide is second leading cause for death among Iowans ages 15-44. Further information from the Iowa Department of Public Health can be found here.
