(Des Moines, IA) -- Next year, Iowa will have three healthcare companies to run the Iowa Medicaid program.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services announces Amerigroup Iowa and Molina Healthcare of Iowa are being awarded managed care contacts. The two companies will join Iowa Total Care, who has a contact with HHS until 2025.

"Over the past year, I have been working to push the Medicaid program into new territory. We’re listening to our members and providers, making sure we hear and respond to their feedback," says Iowa Medicaid Director Liz Matney in a press release. "This is reflected in the changes to the new contracts, which prioritize program improvements and better outcomes for those we serve."

Amerigroup and Molina Healthcare will start services in July of 2023, meaning Iowa Medicaid members do not need to make any changes at this time. HHS says they will reach out to Medicaid members and providers in the next year as the new managed care options become available.
