Douglas County Early Voting Ballot Applications On The Way

The Douglas County Election Commissioner's Office says early voting ballot applications for the 2022 Gubernatorial Primary Election are being mailed today. (Wed.)

Recipients are registered voters who signed up to be on the Douglas County Early Voting Request List.

The postcard-size mail pieces are printed on green cardstock.

Voters must complete and sign the application portion of the mailing and return it to the Election Commission to receive a ballot by mail.

Ballots will not be automatically sent to voters who receive the postcard mailing or who requested a by-mail ballot for previous elections.

Applications may be returned via official ballot drop box, postal mail, email, or fax.

“Voters on the Early Voting Request List should expect to receive their cards within 7 to 10 days,” said Brian Kruse, the Douglas County Election Commissioner. “Using the card provided assists my office in processing applications for by-mail ballots more efficiently, and we appreciate voters using the card and returning it to a ballot drop box when possible,” added Kruse.

For voter convenience, all Douglas County Election Commission ballot drop boxes are open; a list of locations is available on www.votedouglascounty.com under Shortcuts - Vote Early By Mail (look for the envelope icon).

Drop boxes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are accessible even when the hosting organization is closed to the public.

No postage is needed on items deposited into Election Commission drop boxes.

Election materials should only be deposited into official ballot drop boxes to ensure they are received by the Election Commission.

Any voter who does not receive an early voting application postcard may request a by-mail ballot by submitting a request in writing, accompanied by their signature.

At the same time they request their ballot, voters may sign up to be included on the Early Voting Request List for future elections. Details on this may also be found on www.votedouglascounty.com or by calling (402) 444-VOTE (8683).

Ballot requests may not be accepted via telephone.

The first day ballots will be mailed is Monday, April 4th, 2022. The deadline to submit a request for an early voting ballot to be mailed for the Primary Election is Monday, May 2nd, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
