(Linn Co., IA) -- The Cedar Rapids area is seeing a rise in people experiencing homelessness.

"Every bed in all the other shelters are full," says Linn County Supervisor Ben Rogers. "There are still 90 people who will come into the Fillmore [overflow shelter] building for shelter and safety."

County leaders say the pandemic and a lack of affordable housing are major factors in the rise. In addition, they say the 2020 derecho destroyed much of the housing that would be used for re-housing.
