American Legion Post to Mark 100th Year of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- The American Legion in Des Moines will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier this week.

Highland Park American Legion Post 374 will display a half-size replica of the tomb on Veterans Day, this coming Thursday. Pairs of sentries will stand guard in one hour shifts for all 24 hours. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was dedicated at Arlington National Cemetery on November 11th, 1921.

Spectators can see the exhibit in Des Moines throughout the day by driving by Highland Park American Legion Post 374 at 3712 2nd Avenue.
